Open days

Open days are for members to socialise together and for potential members to find out what the space is like before joining. We usually hold an open day once every two weeks or so, and upcoming open day dates can be found on our calendar page.

There are some rules to understand before you come along:

  • Open day attendees must be 11 years old or older, and there must be one responsible adult (18+) for every under-18 attendee.
  • No animals except assistance animals.
  • No alcohol or drugs on the premises, and don’t attend if you’re under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

While it is okay to make things and use equipment during open days, there may be curious people around and it will be very busy, so open days may not be the best time to work on big projects or use noisy equipment.

Volunteering

There are often prospective members coming to open days and they often have questions about how makerspaces work, so having experienced member volunteers around to help people feel welcome, answer questions and point people to membership forms is really good.

If you’re a member, you like talking to people and you’re interested in volunteering to help out with this during an open day, please email the space coordinator: space AT machspace DOT org
